Newfoundland, One Cent, 1938-47 (George VI)

Denomination: 1 Cent; Composition: 0.955 copper, 0.030 tin, 0.015 zinc; Weight: 3.24 grams; Diameter: 19.05 mm; Edge: plain

The Newfoundland government considered changing to a smaller one cent similar to those used in Canada. These were cheaper to produce. The reverse is the pitcher plant, Sarracenia purpurea, which is native to the island.
